OTAVALO – IBARRA
The first visit will be Calderon with their handicrafts made by mazapan. Then we’ll drive northern to reach Cayambe, here we’ll taste the famous “bizcochos y queso de hoja” (biscuits and leaf cheese). Continue the trip through the province of Imbabura, on the way the incredible change of ecosystems and the amazing geology will be part of the landscape. Stop at the San Pablo Lake in where you can try the salty biscuits and the popular cheese, products from the region. Then we go to the Indian Market, full of brightly-colored, woven craftwork and the indigenous people of Otavalo wearing their traditional costume on a daily basis. Here we will have one hour to shop the traditional crafts, weavings and textiles, warm jackets, woven bags, cozy sweaters, cushion covers and wall hangings are all popular souvenirs. After this we’ll visit Cotacachi, famous for the leather market, we will have the opportunity to see how people treat leather to make beautiful clothing and accessories. Of course time to buy.
